Vaughn College Selects UFA To Provide ATC Simulations
October 22, 2013
Vaughn College has selected UFA, Inc., a leading provider of air traffic control (ATC) simulation and voice technologies, to provide the ATTower® and ATCoach® products for its new, state-of-the-art radar and tower training facility, scheduled to open by the end of November.
With a five-channel, high definition, LCD based ATTower training simulator, Vaughn students will experience a "real world" airport environment with aircraft, ground vehicles, wildlife, and simulated weather conditions. For en route and approach radar training, Vaughn will implement a 5-position ATCoach radar simulator. ATCoach provides a comprehensive and high fidelity simulation for both en route and approach air space. A user-friendly exercise creation environment allows Vaughn staff to create and manage their simulation courseware.
Vaughn will also use UFA's industry-leading ATVoice voice recognition and response technology for voice-automated simulation, allowing greater access to training assets and enforcing proper voice communications.
"We are very enthusiastic about expanding our current training program with the addition of these new, high-tech tower and radar simulation systems," said Domenic Proscia, associate vice president of training and aviation department chair. "The new ATC laboratory will complement our flight simulator laboratory, and provide students with experience on the newest systems used in the field today."
Both the tower and radar training environments will support the same airport and airspace that students will encounter upon entering the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy. Vaughn's new ATC lab will offer training on the same products used by the FAA in its training programs. UFA products are also in extensive use by the U.S. Military, FAA-CTI schools and international air navigation service providers.
