Pinning Ceremony Held to Recognize Redbird Students
December 6, 2012
On Tuesday, December 3, the second wave of students participating in the Redbird program were recognized for completing the first phase of flight training. Families and friends were on hand to help acknowledge their hard work and dedication.
"We are thrilled to honor you today as members of the Redbird program," Senior Vice President Dr. Sharon DeVivo said. "You have shown outstanding commitment through this training phase, bringing you one step closer to realizing your dreams."
All long-standing aviation enthusiasts, the Redbird participants spoke about their time spent in San Marcos, Texas, expressed gratitude to family and Vaughn for providing them with this exciting opportunity and standing by them throughout this accelerated program. The students spent several weeks at the Skyport facility, training in simulators, the classroom and in the air.
During the ceremony, members of this group also acknowledged their fellow classmate Daniel Turner, as a model student and source of help to all, who will be deeply missed.
The five students – David Brown, Dane Gill, Tevin Goodridge, Nique Irving and Raymond Ortiz – represent the second class from Vaughn to receive their private pilot license at Redbird Skyport. The group will return to San Marcos in January to begin work on their instrument rating.
