NBC News Anchor Chuck Scarborough Visits Vaughn
October 26, 2010
Channel 4 news anchor and pilot Chuck Scarborough paid Vaughn College a visit Tuesday. Scarborough was on campus to film a public service announcement as part of the NBC affiliate's "I Am a New Yorker" promotional series.
Scarborough, an Air Force veteran, has worked for Channel 4 since 1974. In addition to his love of aviation, the Pittsburgh native has also written three novels.
"I am a pilot ... I am a New Yorker," Scarborough says in the spot, which will begin airing on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
The announcement was filmed in the College's hangar area after the veteran anchor toured the campus and sampled the flight simulators (below).
In addition to hosting Channel 4's nightly news at 6 and 11 p.m., Scarborough hosts the 7 p.m. newscast on the channel's 24-hour cable outlet New York Nonstop. He previously worked in Hattiesburg, Miss., Atlanta and Boston.
