Air Traffic Control Faculty

Vaughn College seeks applicants for full- and part-time, non-tenure track faculty positions for its associate and bachelor of science degrees that include Air Traffic–Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) courses. The courses for the AT-CTI program are housed within the aviation department at Vaughn. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in Vaughn's AT-CTI program. These faculty positions call for individuals who are committed to student engagement both inside and outside the classroom and in creating opportunities for students to achieve success in the aviation field.

Responsibilities will include: Teaching lecture and laboratory undergraduate courses in air traffic control as well as the areas related to domestic and international aviation; current knowledge of federal aviation regulations; familiarity with simulator and computer equipment and able to assist the aviation department in the implementation of new technologies as needed; advising students interested in air traffic control and aviation careers; assisting the department in obtaining and managing the students' records to facilitate communication between Vaughn and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the AT-CTI program; other departmental reporting and liaison duties with FAA for the AT-CTI program; chairing or serving on department/college committees; participating in scholarly activities such as working on independent research and with students to present and publish papers related to air traffic control and aviation at conferences and in professional and scholarly journals; designing courses that support student learning outcomes as outlined by the department; developing and implementing assessment tools to measure student achievement; and supporting the work of the department in fulfilling the mission and vision of Vaughn.

Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate courses in air traffic control, aviation weather and related courses. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with extensive and recent experience in the US air traffic control and aviation systems.

Requirements

A master's degree in aviation or a related field is required, PhD preferred. Experience in the air traffic control field is required. Prior teaching experience, including online, is an advantage. Aviation Department Faculty

Description

Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for its associate and bachelor of science degrees in aircraft operations. Degree programs offered include aircraft operations (professional pilot and aeronautical science), maintenance, maintenance management and non-degree programs in flight dispatch and Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI). Ideal candidates are those who have obtained their flight ratings to develop research and scholarly activities supporting the program(s). Leadership in helping to manage the programs is also required.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in Vaughn's Aviation Department programs. This faculty position calls for an individual who is committed to student engagement both inside and outside the classroom and in creating opportunities for students to achieve success in the aviation field.

Responsibilities for the full-time position include:

• Teaching lecture and laboratory undergraduate courses in at least one of the programs offered
within this department: domestic and international aviation; federal aviation regulations.
• Familiarity with simulator and computer equipment and ability to assist the aviation department
in the implementation of new technologies as needed.
• Advising students interested in aviation careers; assist with other departmental reporting and
liaison duties with FAA and accreditation bodies, especially AABI.
• Developing and implementing assessment measures of student achievement.
• Chairing or serving on department and college committees; participating in scholarly activities
such as working on independent research and with students to present and publish papers in the
field at conferences and in professional and scholarly journals.
• Designing courses; and supporting the department's work to fulfill the mission and vision of
Vaughn.

Requirements

• A doctoral degree in aviation or a related field is required but ABD will be considered.
• Experience in the aviation field is required.

Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Technology Faculty

Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in the engineering and engineering technology departments. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in Vaughn's bachelor of science in electrical engineering technology program and the addition of an electrical engineering degree as well as assisting in Vaughn's current bachelor of science in mechatronics engineering program.

Responsibilities include: teaching lecture and laboratory undergraduate courses in electrical engineering and mechatronics engineering; knowledge of multisim circuit design, multisim electronics workbench, LabView MATLAB and PLC; familiarity with electronics laboratory equipment; advising electrical engineering and mechatronics students and serving on college committees; participating in scholarly activities such as working with students to present papers related to electrical/mechatronics at journals and conferences; designing courses that support student learning outcomes outlined by the department; assessing student performance using the Vaughn College faculty assessment model. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in electrical circuits, electronic circuits, digital systems, control systems, microprocessors, principles of communications and robotics. Consideration will be given to those with computer background in Multisim, LabView, MATLAB and PLC.

Requirements

A PhD is preferred; experience in electrical engineering, PLC and robotics desirable. Those with only a master's degree must demonstrate significant experience in this field and will only be considered for a non-tenure track position. Industrial and teaching experience preferred.

Full-Time Aviation Maintenance Instructor

Vaughn College's Aviation Training Institute invites applications for a full-time instructor position in our aviation maintenance program. This position calls for an individual who is committed to students' technical education so that they may achieve success in the aviation maintenance fields. Additional duties include adherence to the standards of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 147-approved curriculum, advising students, assisting in the maintenance of assigned labs and attending departmental meetings.

Conducting departmental reporting and liaison duties with accreditation agencies; chairing or serving on department/college committees.

Participating in scholarly activities such as writing grants and working on independent research, together with mentoring students in presenting and publishing papers in the field at conferences and in professional and scholarly journals.

Designing courses; and supporting the department's work to fulfill the mission and vision of Vaughn College.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in general and aviation-related management courses. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with extensive and recent experience in the aviation and management fields.

Requirements

Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty

Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time position for a pivotal role in its bachelor of science in mechanical engineering technology and mechatronic engineering programs. Vaughn seeks a candidate who can assist the department in the development and implementation of a mechanical engineering program.

Responsibilities include: teaching lecture and laboratory undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering technology and mechanical engineering programs; familiarity with mechanical engineering laboratory equipment and ability to assist in the enhancement of the mechanical engineering laboratory; advising students and serving on college committees; participating in scholarly activities such as working with students to present papers related to mechanical/mechatronics at journals and conferences; designing courses that support student learning outcomes outlined by the department; assessing student performance throughout course and program using the Vaughn College faculty course assessment model.

The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in thermal science, solid mechanics, mechatronics and computer-aided design. Consideration will be given to candidates with strong background in CAD/CAM/CAE using computer software such as CATIA, Solid Edge, Solid Work, PATRAN-NASTRAN, etc.

Requirements

A PhD is preferred. Experience in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, solid modeling and robotics is desirable. Those with only a master's degree must demonstrate significant professional experience and will only be eligible for a non-tenure track position. Industrial and teaching experiences preferred.
