Tomasita Ortiz
English Curriculum Developer
Academic Support Services
A published author, a former book editor, and a former marketing and communications specialist, Tomasita Ortiz's interest has always been the written word and how people communicate. Her passion has always been teaching—helping others understand the use of language and how to become confident in expressing oneself.
The opportunity to make a real difference in education is what led Ortiz to Vaughn College. She strongly relates to the student population because she sees her younger self in the faces of Vaughn's students. Coming from a similar background as many Vaughn students, Ortiz serves as an example of succeeding in academics and in business. She hopes to make significant contributions in engaging students so they are ready for the challenges ahead. Whether it's through curriculum development, faculty collaboration, or one-on-one student tutoring, she strives to ultimately produce future generations of thinkers and able communicators by helping Vaughn students improve their literacy and critical thinking abilities.
