Dr. Paul LaVergne is an accomplished mountaineer who inspires his students to ascend to lofty heights. Dr. LaVergne is chair of Vaughn College's arts and sciences department and is a former executive with the computer giant Sperry Corp. Even at a school rooted in aviation, engineering and management, Dr. LaVergne understands why an arts-and-sciences curriculum is valuable. "I think it's important for students to write and think well. If you can, people take notice."
