Dr. Gillian Scott-Ward, Vaughn College's director of counseling and wellness, specializes in clinical issues facing young adults, including understanding and mitigating the academic achievement gap. Her dissertation at the City University of New York was titled "The Role of Media Portrayals on the Activation of Stereotype Threat: A Study of African American Test Performance" and explored the impact of positive and negative media portrayals of African-Americans on the intellectual performance of black college students. Dr. Scott-Ward brings four years of experience as a therapist in higher-education settings to Vaughn College and has a passion for supporting student success.
