Outside the classroom, Vaughn students get together, work together and have fun together in our student clubs, professional societies, honor societies and in intercollegiate athletics.

Most meet weekly during what Vaughn calls "common hour": 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So get involved. Join Vaughn's:

American Association of Airport Executives, Inc. (AAAE)

The College has a local chapter of this national organization, which works to promote, develop and instill professional attitudes in students who are engaged in the study of airport development and administration.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)

The AIAA is a nationwide society of professional aerospace specialists such as aeronautical engineers, test pilots and electronic engineers. The organization was created to exchange intelligence, standardize practices and encourage and enlighten young people on the career options in this field. Since 1947, the College has had a student branch, which actively participates in intercollegiate design competitions, aircraft manufacturing plant tours and College functions.

Aviation Editors Reaching Out Association (Club AERO)

The purpose of this organization is to express the views and concerns of the student body through the use of effective writing in a student newspaper. The organization also promotes the importance of communication through aviation-related journalism.

Aviation Fraternity/Alpha Eta Rho

The international collegiate fraternity for students in the field of aviation is Alpha Eta Rho. The fraternity serves as a contact between the aviation industry and educational institutions to foster, promote and mentor today's college students toward successful careers in the aviation field.

Caribbean Culture Club

This club was established by students for the purpose of creating a medium in which its members could unite as one voice. The Caribbean Culture Club aims to share and celebrate the diversity of cultures of its members. Although most members are of Caribbean descent, this club welcomes people of all backgrounds.

Chess Club

This student-formed club was created to teach the Vaughn community how to play chess and to give an arena for students to congregate and socialize. The Chess Club holds tournaments throughout the year for friendly competition that is open to students, staff and faculty.

Circle K

Created to provide community service and outreach opportunities to Vaughn students who serve as peer leaders for the student body, Circle K focuses on the improvement of the relationship between students, faculty and peers. The club is dedicated to improving campus life by fundraising for equipment to enhance student resources.

Dance Club

Together, students study and perform the music and dance of a variety of cultures.

Hispanic Society of Aeronautical Engineers (HSAE)

This organization was established by students to bring together students of different backgrounds and assist them in obtaining their goals within the aviation industry and at Vaughn College. Among the club's objectives is to promote awareness of Hispanic culture among the HSAE's members and throughout the College community.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

The IEEE is an international organization established to encourage interest in the field of electricity and electronics. All members receive the IEEE journal and are encouraged to attend the annual convention. Guest speakers are invited to lecture on various topics of interest.

Japanese Culture Club

This club showcases for the Vaughn community the customs and culture of Japanese society. Any student can join and one does not have to be of Japanese ethnicity to take part in the Club. The club's blog can be found at www.vaughnjcc.blogspot.com.

Podcast Club

Established by students interested in the digital media realm, the Podcast Club promotes communication between students on a more intimate level by creating a community in which students can exchange ideas and interact with one another in a non-prejudicial environment.

Recycling Club (Club R4)

This club was created by students who wanted to bring green awareness to the College. Its purpose is to educate the school population about conservation practices such as recycling and other lifestyle choices that minimize the harmful impacts humans have on the earth.

Red Hawks Flight Team

Students who are pilots, as well as others interested in flight competitions, are eligible to join the flight team. The flight team is dedicated to promoting a variety of flying and ground activities, as well as competing in flight and ground events for such organizations as the National Intercollegiate Flight Association.

Robotics Club

This club was designed to bring together students with an interest in the field of robotics. Students will have the opportunity to either work on large established projects, small competition projects or propose new projects.

Runway Club

Designed for fashion enthusiasts who appreciate and follow the trends in fashion, this club holds numerous fundraisers to raise money for charities, club events and the annual fashion show.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

The SAE is a national professional society whose members meet to discuss new and advanced technologies in the aviation industry. The SAE conducts field trips to aviation/aerospace-related corporations, participates in nationwide competitions and sponsors many student activities.

Student Christian Fellowship

The College has a local chapter of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, USA. This organization practices and promotes the teachings of the Christian religion. The Christian Fellowship generally meets once a week for prayer groups and other social/spiritual events. All students, regardless of religious affiliation are welcome to join this organization.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the voice of the students and serves the campus community through effective, responsible leadership. Under the purview of the dean of student development and campus life, the association is the liaison between college administration and the student body, working toward the greater good of the campus community and welfare and morale of the students.

The SGA works in conjunction with other student organizations as well as the student affairs staff to coordinate student-sponsored events and programs. All student clubs and organizations operate under the guidance and support of the Student Government Association and abide by its constitution, which promises to represent, advocate and protect the welfare of the student body of the College.

Any student who is currently enrolled, matriculated and in good academic and judicial standing at the College is eligible to become a member of the SGA. The executive board consists of five elected officers: president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and student activities committee chair. Officers are elected every spring in a collegewide election in which all registered students are encouraged to vote. The SGA enables students to enhance their professional skills and become an active participant in the campus community while taking advantage of leadership opportunities that come their way.

WIA-I is an organization dedicated to providing networking, education, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women (and men) who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
