Vaughn College's Aviation Training Institute offers federal, state and institutional funds to help students pay for their education. More than 85 percent of our students are eligible for financial aid. All prospective and current students are encouraged to apply for assistance.
The first step is filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you are a resident of New York state a separate Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application will be mailed to you once you have filed the FAFSA. The FAFSA attempts to use information you provide from your tax forms to establish a figure called an Expected Family Contribution (EFC). This is the amount the government feels your family can contribute to your college education. This figure does not change no matter the cost of the institution you are planning to attend.
When preparing a financial aid package, colleges subtract this figure from the total cost of attendance to find your financial need. They then attempt to use any resources available to them in order to help you meet that need. The lower your family's financial need, the more government and college resources will be available to you. Students with a maximum need (a zero or near zero EFC) often find they are able to pay their full tuition using a combination of government and institutional need-based funds.
