Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is an institution dedicated to providing a distinctive education to a diverse population of students. Electronic Technology Department
Mission
The mission of the electronic technology department is to provide quality education to the students and prepare them to be well-rounded professionals in the field of electronic technology to meet the current aerospace/aviation and other industries demands and standards.
Vision
The electronic technology department strives to educate students from many different backgrounds and levels of achievements. The challenges of electronics, fiber optics and avionics are experienced through meaningful coursework. The atmosphere enhances motivation and a passion to learn. The process prepares graduates to enter a technical profession as engineers, technicians or technologists.
Goals
The electronic technology department is committed to:
Prepare the students to serve the high-tech electronics and related leading edge technology industries including avionics and optical communication industries.
Create a model instructional environment utilizing advanced technologies and providing students with a dynamic interactive learning experience.
Heighten students' interest and their academic commitment to the field of electronics, avionics and optical communication engineering technologies.
Improve the participation of minority in the electronics and related engineering technologies areas.
Cultivate the spirit of professionalism and honesty among the students to serve the industrial community and society at their utmost.
Mechanical Engineering Technologies Department
Mission
As a unit of Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, the primary mission of the engineering technologies department is to teach incoming students the fundamentals of engineering technologies and to prepare them to meet current aerospace and general industrial demands. Students in the engineering technologies department will be introduced to the fundamentals of science and engineering as well as design and analysis of engineering components.
Vision
The engineering technologies department strives to continue to provide a quality education; that is, to train, motivate and teach self-discipline to students of all backgrounds with the goal of not only bettering themselves, but the world around them through the skillful application of technology and to prepare the student to meet the challenges or the ever-changing future.
Goals
The goals of the department are to provide students with:
- The possession of a strong foundation in the basic and engineering sciences, mathematics, and fundamentals of engineering.
- The knowledge and experience in analytical, computational and experimental methods, and an ability to evaluate these approaches for use in a given practical situation.
- The reliability and safety analysis of engineering components.
- Exposure to the design process throughout the curriculum, including design exercises in which both group and individual efforts are required.
- Technical courses, such as CATIA, are developed to satisfy the need of engineering industries as well as to provide our students with the knowledge and technology to design and evaluate the components of a mechanical system.
Management and Operations Department
Vision
The management and operations department will train students to the highest standards in the fields of management, aircraft operations and aviation maintenance. Our graduates will be well qualified individuals prepared to strive for and achieve success in their chosen professions.
Mission
The management and operations department is committed to providing its students with a quality education. This will consist of excellence in classroom instruction combined with inculcating in students the values of citizenship and leadership that will serve them in their future endeavors.
Goals
To accomplish these broad goals the department will focus on the following objectives:
- Instructors will strive to promote quality of content, topicality of material and use of the latest technology available for its delivery.
- Students will be instilled with values advancing safety and effectiveness in the workplace.
- Students will be taught to work independently and in groups to communicate the value of individual decision making and teamwork.
- In all courses, instructors will convey the message that classroom lessons provide only one part of the information needed to function effectively in a professional workplace to emphasize the value of extracurricular and lifelong learning.
- The management programs will train students to prepare for entry to mid level executive positions in aviation and non-aviation related businesses. They will be instructed in the ways businesses achieve efficiency and profitability without sacrificing ideals of civic responsibility.
- Students in aircraft operations programs will have the opportunity to advance to the certified flight instructor level while receiving academic instruction complementing and enhancing the value of their flight licenses.
- There will be career options and possibilities for advancement in the aviation industry open to the graduates of the maintenance degree programs beyond those of being well-qualified maintenance technicians since these programs add academic courses to the solid technical foundation of the Airframe and Powerplant licenses.
- To the greatest extent, internships and other real-world experiences will be encouraged to enhance the value of classroom lessons.
